Where will it be held? The conference will be held at the Omni Hotel on the historic New Haven Green on September 14-16 with potential auxiliary events at Yale University and elsewhere around New Haven.

Previously hosted in Boulder, Colorado; Boston, Massachusetts; Oakland, California; Portland, Oregon; and Austin, Texas, YIMBYtown has engaged, empowered, and connected thousands of leading pro-homes advocates from North America and beyond.

Everyone from cabinet secretaries to volunteer students! The pro-homes movement is a big tent of backgrounds, geographies, and ideologies. You’ll be in the room with policymakers at the federal, state, and local levels; professional and grassroots organizers; academics and nonprofit thought leaders; and a whole bunch of fun pro-homes individuals from across the country.

We have filled up the block at the Omni. Additional Hotels near the Omni: Graduate by Hilton and Courtyard New Haven at Yale. There are other options across New Haven for folks still looking to book rooms.

New Haven is easily accessible by bus and rail and has several connections via airports. Parking is limited, so seek public transportation as a good pro-homes advocate! See the options listed on the Location tab.

Yes! An ‘unconference’ is a participant driven meeting format and has historically been a part of YIMBYtown. Last time it was on the final day, but YIMBYtown 2025 will have unconference meetings throughout the first two days.

DesegregateCT has created an advisory committee of 24 local, state, and national partners that will look to bring demographic, ideological, and geographic diversity to create an exciting, engaging, and inclusive event that demonstrates the vibrancy and positive vision of the national pro-homes movement.

Connecticut is one of the most economically and racially segregated states in the country in no small part due to having a classic northeastern exclusionary zoning land use regimes. 90% of Connecticut residential land is zoned exclusively for single-family zoning. 80% requires at least an acre and nearly 50% requires two acres. Despite having a relatively robust rail and bus system, only a dozen cities or towns have transit-oriented zoning districts. As a result, it has some of the lowest vacancy rates and biggest home price increases in the country and lacks an estimated over 100,000 affordable homes. To combat this, DesegregateCT has adopted an “All of the Above” approach which means building all kinds of homes, acting at all levels of government, and connecting all related issues. We plan to make this a theme across the conference.

We have three goals for hosting YIMBYtown 2025 in New Haven: First, we want to energize the growing pro-homes movement in Connecticut by bringing a national audience to see the real momentum we have created and sustained through local and state victories (including particularly in New Haven) over the last four years despite a sometimes frustratingly incremental pace; two, we want to demonstrate to local advocates, elected officials, business and faith leaders and other stakeholders in the state and region how far we still have to go and how exciting that journey can be by exposing them to other states and regions that are passing bold reforms and exploring new ideas from increasing housing supply, to protecting homerenters, to connecting transportation and climate policy. Finally, we want to lay out a positive, inclusive, and innovative pro-homes vision for our state, our region, and our movement that channels our “All of the Above” approach into a tangible big tent abundance agenda.

We’re fighting for homes. A home is not just a shelter that you might rent or own. It’s a portal to a broader community of people, ideas, and opportunities. It’s a connection to a place that has a past, present, and future.

To be pro-homes is to believe that a thriving economy, more equitable communities, and a cleaner environment will make your community a safe and exciting home for all of us.
