Scholarship for YIMBYtown 2018
Community Scholarships Are Now Being Offered!
Boston YIMBYtown’s goal is to establish a model of organizing that builds bridges to new allies, promotes racial diversity and equity, and wins housing campaigns. The Boston planning group wants to promote collaborative learning, challenge the status quo and group-think, and offer practical lessons for building powerful campaigns that ensure access to adequate, safe and affordable housing for all.
With generous support from the Massachusetts Housing Partnership, YIMBYtown will award scholarships to grassroots organizers and leaders working to advance housing advocacy work in Massachusetts and nationwide.
Recipients will receive financial assistance in the form of a reimbursement to be used towards registration, travel and/or lodging expenses.
What criteria will the planning committee consider when selecting scholarship recipients?
- No more than two applicants per organization. Available extra funding will be determined at discretion of the planning committee.
- Preference and priority will be given to individuals who are housing grassroots leaders.
- Preference will be given to organizers attending YIMBYtown conference for the first time.
- All individuals must manifest a commitment to equity and diversity.
How do I apply? To apply, individuals will fill out a form and the planning committee will review and make the decision based funds criteria.
Please note that scholarship recipients will be required to submit a short (500 words maximum) reflection piece about the conference, including an overview of two takeaways, and a highlight of one action oriented step the individual plans to take back to their community.
We have opened a second round of community scholarship opportunities. Priority will be given to people of color, LGBTQIA, grassroots activits working in distressed neighborhoods and MA residents. Please apply below!
